GOAL HIGHLIGHTS

Life Goals: I wish to live my life in such a way that when I’m lounging at the nursing home, sipping on my juice box, I can look back in retrospect and think, “Wow, that was fun!”

Career goals:  I wish to find a career that helps me as much as I’m helping others.  Nothing is as important in life as making positive connections with other people, and I wish to find a career where I can epitomize such a concept.

FAVORITES SPOTLIGHT

Favorite sports figure: I don’t have a particular favorite sports figure, especially such a dynamic sport as Roller Figure Skating.  I study every skater to try and pull a new par for me to reach in my own skating.  I closely watch Daniel Morandin and Alessandro Spigai to see what the world stage expects to see, Erin Ovens- Scalzitti and Jessica Gaudy to observe textbook technical skills, Swantje and Axel for exceptional team dynamic, any previous Jack Burton teams, and much more.  The more I watch, the more I learn about not only skating, but what I could do in my own to bring out the essence of a performance.

Favorite food before a competition: I can’t eat before I skate.

Favorite movie: SO MANY! My all-time favorite would have to be “The Edge of Seventeen.”

Favorite place to shop: Florida has taught me the value of Wal-Mart!

Favorite music to listen to during training or competition: I like to train to the tempos the compulsory dances are skated at, our freedance and original dance music, and the various program music that our other club members are listening to.  House/ Club/ Trance music is great on days isolated skills are being worked on.

Favorite possession: My favorite possession would have to be my sense of self.  My skates are a close second, but without my sense of self and all that I wish to accomplish in my life, I wouldn’t have been able to reach such an accomplishment as making the world team.

Favorite hobbies: I like to skate, play piano, and make anything a good time!

If you could pick one word to describe you, what would it be: Gregarious

What makes you a unique and special person: If you met me, you wouldn’t be able to describe such a phenomenon either!

Who is the person you most admire/greatest influence in your life and why:  So many people have greatly influenced so many different aspects of my life that just one name would not suffice.  From Past teachers who have taught me from a young age that being myself makes me the best I can be, to Professors enabling this past season to even happen.  I admire Grandma Betty for all of her help making this season possible, as well as Kathy Tini and Rick Smith for always being a ‘rock’ for me to lean against when I felt tired and weary during this journey.  I admire my life coach, Dr. Greer, for helping me reach the entelechy of being the best Brandon I can!  Previous coaches like Priscilla and Elmer Branyan and others, who have taken my skating through the levels year after year.  My friends of whom I consider family at Albright College, as well as my friends from high school- such as Leanne H, Taylor S, Kayla McM, etc.  The Mail Route Road crew, Shannon, Tessa, and I, has influenced my life the most out of anything or anybody.  My parents raised me.  In skating, the most influential person who I admire so dearly is my coach, Karen Miller.  I have never met such a strong person who can take on such tasks as piecing together a world class team in essentially 2 months that can qualify for the world championships.  She is first one to laugh and the last one to stop crying (normally from laughter) and she sets the whole mood of the rink to a positive one.  This year has been such a ride, and I wouldn’t want anyone else in the pit to watch it come to a head other than her.
