King earned national recognition when she won the 2004 U.S. Indoor long jump title in Boston. A five-time NCAA All-American at Notre Dame, she owns both Notre Dame records in the indoor and outdoor long jump and also was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that owns the school record, earned a spot on the U.S. Junior track & field team with a runner-up finish at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2000. Georgia state champion in the long jump, setting a state record with a leap of 19-10.75 in 1999, runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles at the 1999 state meet, runner-up in both the 300-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay and fourth in the long jump at the state meet in 1997. Ran nine seasons for the Atlanta-based Northside Red Runners under the direction of Robert Red Smith, started running competitively in 1998 at age seven. Brother Kelvin was a cornerback on the Air Force Academy football team. Graduated with a finance degree from Notre Dame.

2004: 6th at Olympic Trials (6.47m/21-02.75),USA Indoor LJ champion (6.45m/21-2.0),1st at Provo (6.51m/21-4.25), 5th at Nike Prefontaine Classis (6.31m/20-8.50), 6th at Martinique (6.31m/20-8.5), ranked #5 in the U.S. by T&FN, best of 6.51m/21-4.25.
