CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
This laid-back Southern Californian is having a breakthrough year in just his second full season as a pro. Querrey broke into the Top 50 in 2007 and his ranking continues to rise after winning his first ATP singles title in March in Las Vegas.

Professional Tennis Career Highlights (as of June 13, 2008)

  • Captured his first ATP singles title in March 2007 in Las Vegas. Ranked No. 66 at the time; defeated three players ranked inside the Top 50 en route to the final.
  • Notched his first career win over a Top 10 player in July 2007 vs. No. 10 James Blake (see below). Defeated No. 9 Richard Gasquet on red clay at the ATP Masters Series event in Monte Carlo in April.
  • In the same year he graduated high school, jumped more than 600 ranking positions and finished season as the fourth-youngest player in the year-end Top 150 (2006).
  • Finished 2007 in the Top 75 (No. 63) - his first full season as a pro.
  • Hit a record 10 consecutive aces in a row at the 2007 Indianapolis Tennis Championships in July 2007 vs. fellow American James Blake. Fired a career-high 36 aces against Blake en route to his first win over a Top 10 player.

Junior Highlights

  • Won back-to-back junior titles at the USTA International Spring Championships and the Easter Bowl in 2005.
  • Reached quarterfinals at US Open Junior Championships in 2004 and at the Roland Garros juniors in 2005.
  • Runner-up to Donald Young at the 2005 USTA Boys' 18s National Championships.
  • Swept the singles and doubles titles at the 2004 USTA Boys' 16s National Championships and 2002 USTA Boys' 14 National Championships.

  • Practice partner for the U.S. Davis Cup team (2005-07).

PERSONAL

  • Introduced to tennis at age four by mother, Chris, a housewife.
  • Father, Mike, is a mortgage banker and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers but chose to play college baseball at the University of Arizona instead. Has a younger sister, Ellen, who is an outstanding volleyball player at Thousand Oaks High School.
  • Offered a full scholarship to play tennis at the University of Southern California before deciding to turn pro in June 2006.
  • Off the court, enjoys playing basketball, table tennis and golf.
  • When asked what makes him a unique and special person, "I'm young, I'm a great tennis player, I'm funny and I drive a 1974 van (a "pimped-out" Volkswagen Vanagon)."
  • Has said taking the SAT's was harder than playing James Blake.
