Fun Facts: Silverman enjoys spending time with friends and going to the movies. He began his Paralympic career in 2012. He is classified as S-10, SB-9, SM-9. He placed first at the U.S. Paralympic Trials in the 50, 100, 400, 1500m freestyle events as well as the 100 butterfly and 200 IM. He was born with mild cerebral palsy and has undergone muscle lengthening surgery to
lower extremities, as well as serial casting and Botox injections. Silverman dedicates the
2012 London Paralympic Games to his best friend and teammate, Alec J. Cosgarea, who
tragically passed on July 9, 2012.
