Director of National Events

Definition: The Director of National Events will plan and manage all regattas and race events for the OKC Boathouse Foundation.

Reporting: The Director of National Events is a full time salaried position with benefits. The position will be responsible to and evaluated by the Sr. Director, Operations and Events

Essential Functions/ Key Responsibilities:

Regatta & Event Planning/Management: Manage event-planning process through development and maintenance of Event Management Database, coordination of event planning meeting sessions, and development and management of event budgets. Coordinate development and execution of venue rental contract and event staffing.

Specific duties include: budgeting, permitting, boathouse program coordination, operations, hospitality, signage, site planning and installation, special attraction management, vendor sales, VIP events, and overall venue experience coordination.

Events include but are not limited to:  Indoor Challenge (February); USACK National TeamTrials (April), Big 12 Championships (May) Stars and Stripes Regatta, Oklahoma Regatta Festival, High School Rowing League spring and fall races; other national and international events as scheduled.

Additional responsibilities include interfacing with the national/international governing bodies for rowing, canoe/kayak and triathlon, as well city and corporate entities.

Intern Management: Manage intern program by overseeing schedules, duties, evaluation and recruitment.

Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  This position is well-suited for a hands-on individual with 3+ years of experience in event management. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and minimum 3 years broad-based event management experience with a strong background in sports/event planning
  • Experience in planning national and/or international events   
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with other management staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in the Oklahoma River, Oklahoma City, and the OKCBF mission
