The United States Olympic Committee brought the magic of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to hundreds of thousands of people nationwide through the Road to Sochi Tour presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance. Beginning Oct. 29 in New York City's Times Square, the 13-stop interactive sports tour traveled across the country through the Closing Ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
Built around U.S. Olympic Team Trials, various community events and Team USA Celebrations during the Sochi Olympic Winter Games, each tour stop hosted Olympians and Paralympians and Sochi 2014 hopefuls for autograph sessions, while welcoming fans in communities big and small to try out their Olympic and Paralympic skills through a number of interactive sport elements. Additionally, fans were able to purchase limited-edition "Go USA" fan mittens through the USOC’s Raise Your Hands campaign, which helped to raise funds for Team USA athletes. The mittens were priced at $14 per pair.
The tour featured 11 partners, including presenting sponsor Liberty Mutual Insurance, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Budweiser, Chobani, Folgers (Smucker’s), Hilton HHonors, Jif (Smucker’s), Kellogg’s, Smucker’s jams and United Airlines, and each stop was free and open to the public.
