Jul 10 Stephanie Wheeler Blog - In my Mind, I’m gone to Carolina…

July 10, 2008, 12:49 p.m. (ET)
...well, I'm actually in Carolina; North Carolina that is.  Finally, I have been able to get home to see my family during this crazy summer.  I was born and raised in NC, so anytime I can get home to visit my family, I try to.  As I'm sure many of the other athletes can attest to, it's not too often when your training schedule allows for you to get home and spend some time with your family.  This is actually the first time I have been home since Christmas, so my visit is long overdue (as I'm sure my family will say as well).  Getting home and seeing my family is so important because they are the ones who support me no matter what and have helped me to achieve the level of success that I have reached.  They understand that training takes me far away from home, but the end rewards are going to be so great that it is going to be worth it because not only will I represent my country in Beijing, but I will also be representing my family.

Training is an interesting venture while I'm here in NC.  I am from an incredibly small town so finding a gym isn't the easiest task in the world.  Since I have been here, cardio has been what the doctor has ordered -- lots of pushing and conditioning workouts after it cools off outside.  I'm hoping that while I am here, I can find a gym to get into and get some shooting in, but if not, it's not the end of the world.  I will be back in Alabama soon enough before our next training camp to get some of that in.  As long as I'm doing some cardio to work off all the good food I'm eating at home, then I should be good to go...haha!

Well, until next time....go USA!!!
