May 22 U.S. PARALYMPICS: Registration Deadline Nears for 2008 U.S. Paralympic Trials-Track , Field

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 22, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-The deadline to register for the 2008 Paralympic Trials-Track , Field at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, June 12-15, is nearing. Early registration closes on May 27th, and the late entry deadline is June 9, 2008. The competition is the sole qualifying track , field event for U.S. athletes to be nominated for the 2008 Paralympic Games. Arizona Disabled Sports and the City of Mesa Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities will act as the local organizing committee. Reduced rates are being offered at the host hotel, Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa through May 29th. Registration is available online at www.2008ParalympicTrackTrials.com. The competition is expected to draw over 200 athletes with a physical disability from all over the world. Athletes who meet the minimum qualifying standards will be eligible to compete in the Trials. The competition program is scheduled to include events that will be contested at the 2008 Paralympic Games, with the exception of the marathon.
