Feb 19 Kuck Leads Team USA with a 6th Place Finish at Allround Championships

MOSCOW, Russia (February 19, 2012) - The Essent ISU World Allround Championships concluded in Moscow today with Jonathan Kuck (Champaign, Ill.) leading Team USA with a 6th place finish and 152.295 points overall.

 

Kuck skated a 13:30.88 to finish in 6th in today’s 10000m, 2.97 seconds back from distance winner and 2012 Allround World Champion Sven Kramer, who posted an impressive 13:08.76. 

 

The Dutch team swept the championship podium with Kramer (149.327) joined by Jan Blokhuijsen in 2nd (149.614) and Koen Verweij taking 3rd (150.085). Joshua Wood (Sacramento, CA) finished 17th, and Patrick Meek (St. Louis, MO) 22nd overall. Ireen Wust (NED) won the ladies Allround Championship title with 161.050 points, her second consecutive Allround Championship title. Martina Sablikova (CZE) took second (161.870) and Christine Nesbitt (CAN) finished third overall (162.360). Jilleanne Rookard (Woodhaven, MI) led Team USA with an 11th place finish (167.480) and Maria Lamb (River Falls, WI) finished 24th. Team USA now travels to Heerenveen, Netherlands for the Essent ISU World Cup #6 at the famed Thialf stadium, March 2-4.
