Chula Vista, CA - The second nomination shoot for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery, as well as the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials for Archery, will take place this week at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA.
These events kick off tomorrow with the first day of scoring for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which carries points over from the first nomination shoot for each of the sixteen women and sixteen men who are competing. At each of the three nomination shoots, points are cumulative and increasing point values are applied, meaning that it's still anyone's game, with lots of points up for grabs this week on a very competitive field.
On Thursday, the field will be narrowed to the top eight archers per gender, who will continue to compete for two additional days this week, and will then travel to the third and final nomination shoot, June 1-2 in Colorado Springs, where the three men and three women who make up the U.S. Olympic Team for Archery will be selected.
The Paralympic Team Trials for Archery will consist of a single nomination shoot, taking place April 25-28. Watch for our event coverage of the Paralympic event beginning on April 25, in which spots in several different categories are up for nomination. Many of the country's top Paralympic hopefuls are currently onsite in Chula Vista preparing for the competition.
