Tomasevicz elected as USOC AAC rep
The election for the USOC Athletes' Advisory Council (AAC) position concluded and 2010 Olympic champion Curt Tomasevicz has been chosen as the U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton (USBSF) representative. Mickie Rzepka, a 2010 Olympian, has been selected as the alternate. If Tomaesevicz is unable to attend an AAC meeting or other official function, Rzepka will take that role. The first meeting of the new USOC AAC is slated for this month.
Tomasevicz was elected by the athlete to serve a second four-year term and is automatically a member of the USBSF Board of Directors as a result of his USOC AAC selection.
The USBSF is grateful to nominees Matt Antoine, Justin Olsen and Steve Langton for their willingness to serve, and to Katie Koczynski-Demong for completing her term as the alternate.
“Our pool of candidates for the USOC AAC rep was impressive, and any one of these athletes would have done a great job,” said USBSF CEO Darrin Steele. “We’ve seen an increase in AAC involvement recently, and it’s helped to create better relationships between the athletes and the national governing bodies.”
The AAC is responsible for broadening communication between the United States Olympic Committee and active athletes, and serves as a source of input and advice to the USOC board of directors. The AAC consists of at least one athlete from each sport in which the United States is represented at the Olympic and Pan American Games, two athletes representing the Paralympic Sport Organizations or NGBs designated to govern a Paralympic sport, and six athletes elected by the AAC to serve at-large, including a chair and two vice chairs.
