Spectator Information

In whitewater slalom, competitors navigate through a series of gates set on a technically challenging stretch of whitewater. Athletes must negotiate these gates in the correct order and direction, incurring a 2 second penalty for touching a gate, or a catastrophic 50 second penalty for missing one. Each competitor gets two runs down the course, and the faster of the two counts as the final result.

The exciting Nantahala Falls course promotes convenient spectator viewing, particularly from the river-right platforms and sidewalk. Parking and event-site amenities, including restaurants, restrooms, convenience store and NOC's Outfitter's Store are located within easy walking distance from the competition.

Please note that event organizers will be regulating traffic on Nantahala Falls throughout the day in an effort to accommodate athletes' runs.
