USA Field Hockey today announced the player selections for the 2008 Women's Indoor Squad.
Under the direction of head coach Shawn Hindy, the squad will train once a month during the summer months.
In August, twelve players will be named to the Pan American Team to compete at the 2008 Indoor Pan Ams in San Juan, Argentina from November 18 to 23, 2008.
Team Notes:
- Jennifer Mathis, Christina McDavitt, Meredith Randall, Denise Zelenak were all members of the 2006 Pan Am Team. Maria Keesling was an alternate to the 2006 Pan Am Team.
- Ten players (Megan Botteri (GK), Colleen Boyce, Kelly Hood, Jessica Longstreth, Corrine McConville, Ali McEvoy, Adrienne Ostroff (GK), Kaitlin Piosa, Brenna Rescigno, Emily Valeo) are all high school athletes for 2007-08. Colleen Boyce is the youngest at 15 years old. Maria Keesling is the oldest at 40 years old.
- 11 of the 22 girls are from Pennsylvania.
- 63 players tried out for the team on April 7th, 2008 in Feasterville, PA.
- Almost all of the players competed in the USFHA National Indoor Tournament at some time.
