BEIJING (AP) Australia's attack was relentless Wednesday in its men's field hockey game against South Africa.
The world's top-ranked team scored in the second minute, and by the time the onslaught was over, the Australians had won 10-0 and improved to 2-0 in pool play.
Eli Matheson scored three goals and David Guest and Jamie Dwyer each scored two.
South Africa hasn't scored in either of its games.
Host China led South Korea 2-0 before Jang Jong-hyun tied the score at 2 with a goal in the closing seconds of the first half. Jang scored off penalty corners in the 55th and 57th minutes, then Kang Seong-jung closed the scoring. South Korea improved to 1-1, while China fell to 0-2.
Pakistan beat Canada 3-1. Canada led 1-0, but Muhammad Imran and Shafgat Rasool both scored goals in the 39th minute, then Muhammad Raqas scored in the 57th to give Pakistan its first win.
Germany and Belgium tied 1-1. Germany's Matthias Witthaus scored the opening goal in the 19th minute, then Belgium's Cedric Charlier scored three minutes later.
The late games involved last-minute game-winning goals. Spain defeated New Zealand 1-0 on a goal by Santiago Freixa in the 70th minute. The Netherlands defeated Britain 1-0 on a goal by Taeke Taekema in the 63rd minute. Both Spain and the Netherlands improved to 2-0.
Pool play will continue Friday.
