USA Falls to Czech Republic in Game Four of World Cup
The USA Men's Indoor Team fell to the Czech Republic today in game four of the World Cup. The Czechs were on the scoreboard early with a penalty-corner from Stepan Bernatek. USA reacted well, and Pat Harris (Moorpark, CA) was able to force two penalty-corners, however, both were well defended by Czech goalie Filip Neusser. The Czech Republic maintained their pressure and scored two more goals before the end of the first half, including a superb individual effort by Jakub Kyndl to beat Jason Wellings in the USA goal.
A penalty-stroke for the Czech Republic came early in the second period by Ales Perinka, adding another goal for the Czech's. The USA was unlucky to hit the crossbar on a penalty-corner attempt. Unfortunately, the USA could not stop the Czech team from scoring five more goals before the end of the match, which ended 8-1.
Highlights and results will be posted to the USA Field Hockey website following the conclusion of matches. The schedule for the Indoor World Cup is as follows, with all times listed in local CET.
