USA U19 Team Falls to Canada 2-0
CHULA VISTA, CA - The USA U-19 Junior National Team faced off against Canada today, in the second game of their four game series. The team came out with great enthusiasm, but had a difficult time transitioning that into goals.
Canada came out strong with Maddie Secco executing a field goal in the fourth minute, creating an early lead for the Maple Leaves.
The USA had a difficult time keeping the ball out of their own backfield and tried to move it forward but played a majority of the match in front of goalkeeper Adrianna Crovo. USA captain Kelsey Harbin was the most vocal for the red white and blue as her teammates tried to regroup as they protected the cage against Canada.
Priya Randhawa of Canada took a shot from the field in the 16th minute and it snaked around the USA defense to make the lead, 2-0 Canada.
“We’ve had two tough games. Canada has come out aggressive and we are asking the players to come out of their comfort zones to bring their game to the next level,” said Carla Tagliente, Head Coach. “Our athletes are facing a challenge and they are seeing first hand what it takes to play at the international level. With two games ahead of us we are very optimistic that the team will make headway and we will see positive results.”
