Dec 27 Under-14 entry process for the National Indoor Tournament announced

Colorado Springs, Colo. – After much discussion with club administrators around the country, USA Field Hockey today announced the Under-14 entry process for the National Indoor Tournament (NIT) held in conjunction with the Under-16 National Indoor Tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia, March 8-10, 2013.

For 2013, the qualification for the Under-14 National Indoor Tournament will return to a lottery process. Mail-in applications will be made available on January 7, 2013 and will be due along with the registration fee of $1,100 on January 20, 2013 to the National Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Congratulations to the followings teams who qualified for the Under-16 and Under-19 National Indoor Tournament from the Richmond Qualifier: (U16) WC Eagles I, Spirit of USA East, WC Ealges II, High Voltage Black, Saints Hockey Rocks, Peninsula Power White, FireStyx-Goalbusters, Richmond Panthers United Black, and Focus Fusion, (U19) WC Eagles I, Spirit of USA North, WC Eagles II, FireStyx-StyxFire, Saints Blue, NC TarDevils Navy, TCOYO Yang, NOVA Elite Black, Saints Hockey Rocks and Focus Fire. 

The Under-19 National Indoor Tournament will be held in Richmond, March 1-3, 2013 with the Under-14 and Under-16 tournament being held the following weekend. The number of Under-19 teams that earn a spot at the tournament from a qualifier has increased to the top 40% of the teams that enter. This number has jumped 10% from 2012 and ensures that the best teams advance to the premier indoor tournament of the year. The number of Under-16 teams that earn a spot at the NIT has increased to 30%, a 5% increase from last year. 

In addition, USA Field Hockey has added a Boys division to the 2013 National Indoor Tournament. Under-14, Under-17, and Under-21 boys are invited to register individually on usafieldhockey.com. The final teams will be created based on experience level.
