Jul 10 Team USA to Compete at Belo Horizonte World Cup this Weekend

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - The six U.S. athletes who competed at the Brazil Grand Slam last week in Rio de Janeiro will be joined by 12 other American players at the Belo Horizonte World Cup, also in Brazil, on Saturday and Sunday. 

Travis Stevens (Wakefield, Mass. / NYAC / USA Judo National Team FORCE) earned his first A-Level in Rio de Janeiro with a bronze in the 81kg division and will look to improve on his results after a four-day training camp in Belo Horizonte.

Aaron Kunihiro (Wakefield, Mass. / NYAC / USA Judo National Team FORCE) also had his first A-Level placing with a fifth in the 60kg division.  

The following athletes also will be competing at the World Cup:

  • Hana Carmichael (Wakefield, Mass. / USA Judo National Team FORCE / 57kg), 2008 U.S. Open silver medalist
  • Janine Nakao (Wakefield, Mass. / USA Judo National Team FORCE / 63kg), two-time Senior National Champion
  • Christal Ransom (Colorado Springs, Colo. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Olympic Training Center / Boulder Judo Training Center / 63kg), 2009 Senior Pan Am Team member
