Onchi Sensei (9th Dan)
1918 – 2013

Sensei James S. Onchi of the historic Obukan Judo club in Portland, Oregon, passed away last week. Services were held over the weekend. An honor guard service is planned for Feb. 1, noon, at Willamette National Cemetery with burial following at Lincoln Memorial Park. 

According to Obukan’s website, a recent practice was dedicated to Sensei Onchi’s favorite throw, Sode Tsurikomi Goshi.
