IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 14, 2008 Lincoln, NE-USA Roller Sports will be holding its 26th Annual Outdoor Speed Skating National Championships June 13-19, 2008 in Colorado Springs, Colo. This championship, presented by The Colorado Springs Sports Corp and Experience Colorado Springs (CVB), will showcase some of the most dynamic athletes in the United States. Skaters will compete in the freshman, junior, world class, and masters divisions at this event. Spectator admission is free. Competition will begin with the banked track events at the 7-11 Velodrome Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15, just five blocks south of the Olympic Training Center in Memorial Park. The rain date for the track championships will be Monday, June 16. The road competition will take place June 17-18 (site to be determined). The USA Roller Sports Outdoor Banked Track and Road Championships will feature some of the nation's finest inline speed skating athletes. The best skaters from all corners of the United States will vie for a spot on the U.S. Inline Speed Skating World Team, which will compete at the 2008 Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) World Speed Skating Championships in Gijon, Spain September 4-12, 2008. The junior and senior world teams will have 12 representatives in each class, for a total of 24 American athletes that will represent Team USA at the world championships in Spain.
