Fabsik Swarts Named USA Synchro Executive Director
INDIANAPOLIS – USA Synchro has named Julie Fabsik-Swarts as its new executive director. Fabsik-Swarts brings to the position a strong history as a non-profit executive leader with an extensive background in fundraising, grant writing and sponsorship attainment.

sets necessary to lead USA Synchro forward. I look forward to working with her.”
Fabsik-Swarts, previously the Director of Development and Marketing for EducationWorks in Lawrenceville, N.J., is a Certified Fundraising Executive, Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy and has served as the development and marketing manager for an $11 million organization. She holds a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
“My husband and I are very excited to come join the USA Synchro family,” Fabsik-Swarts said. “We can’t wait to meet all the members of the synchronized swimming community.”
As the Executive Director of the Abington (Pa.) YMCA from 2005 to 2008, Fabsik-Swarts led and managed a staff of 25 full-time and 250 part-time employees, with 8,000 members. During her tenure, the Y’s budget increased from $3.5 million to $4 million. The Y was named the Most Improved Fundraising Branch in Philadelphia (2006) and the Top Fundraising Branch (2007).
It has been 66 days since you elected me to serve as your president, and what a busy time it has been! In a renewed spirit of cooperation, the Board of Directors has been busy working on your behalf. Our most important achievement to date is the hiring of a new executive director.
I am pleased to announce that we have hired Julie Fabsik-Swarts as our next executive director. Julie brings to the position a rich background of experiences both in and out of sports which gives her the skill sets needed to excel as the executive director of our NGB.
Julie has an extensive background in fund raising, grant writing and sponsorship attainment. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive and Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy. Julie has served as the development and grants manager for an $11,000,000 organization.
As the Executive Director of the Abington YMCA, she led and managed a staff of 25 full-time and 250 part-time employees, with 8,000 members. During her tenure, the Y’s budget increased by $500,000 to $4,000,000. The Y was named the Most Improved Developmental Branch in Philadelphia (2006) and the Top Developmental Branch (2007) under her leadership.
Her sport experience includes participating in synchronized swimming at the Flushing Y, where she also participated in gymnastics. She interned at the USOC in the Risk Management Department. Julie also volunteered at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, where she organized a demonstration and fundraiser for USSS National Team before they left for the World Championships. She has run sports camps at Cal Berkley and Loch Haven University. A former gymnastics coach and consultant for choreography, Julie has an Elite Level Judges’ Rating with USA Gymnastics.
