Diana Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) reached the bronze-medal match before withdrawing from the competition on Wednesday at the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 International Invitational Tournament held at the University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium. Lopez won her opening match in the female Olympic featherweight division, beating Malaysia's Elaine Teo, 5-0, and then defeated China's Yang Zhao, 2-(-2). In her third match of the day, against China's Jie Lei, Lopez went up 2-0 and maintained a 2-1 lead in the third round but suffered a kyong-go (penalty) with 10 seconds left to knot the score at 1-1. In the overtime session, Lei scored the decisive point to win and advance to the gold medal match. Lopez elected not to fight in the bronze-medal match. In the men's Olympic featherweight division, Chris Martinez (Sugar Land, Texas) suffered a compound fracture to his finger in the opening round of his first match against Turkey's Servet Tazegul and withdrew from the competion. ###
