The U.S. Olympic Team arrived in Singapore on Sunday, July 27, to begin their final training leading up to the Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The team will train in Singapore until they depart for Beijing on Aug. 7. The opening ceremonies for the Olympics take place on Aug. 8. The taekwondo competition begins on Aug. 20 when flyweight Charlotte Craig (Murietta, Calif.) competes, followed by featherweights Diana Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) and Mark Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) on Aug. 21, and welterweight Steven Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) on Aug. 22.

Jean Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) and Juan Moreno (Miami, Fla.) serve as head coaches for the team, while Herb Perez (San Francisco, Calif.) and Meredith Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.) act as the technical specialist and team leader, respectively.
