COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 9, 2012) – USA Volleyball has released the age division schedule for the 2013 USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships that will take place June 27 to July 4 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
On the opening day of competition, 18 Open, 18 Club and 12 Club will take to the court June 27. The 14 Open and 14 Club Divisions start on June 28, followed by 15 Open and 15 Club on June 29. The 16 Open and 16 Club Divisions commence on June 30, while the 17 Open and 17 Club Division begin on July 1. The 13 Club Division is the last age group to start on July 2. All divisions are four-day events except for the 12 Club and 13 Club Divisions. All clubs must be checked in by 9 p.m. the day before the start of pool play for their respective division.
The USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships attracts 400-plus teams and 4,500-plus athletes. The BJNC will have Open Division titles in each age group from 14 to 18, while offering club titles for each age from 12 to 18. Not only is this a tournament to portray talent from all over the country, it is also a chance for college recruiters to find potential players for their programs.
Reno has previously hosted several USA Volleyball events. The USA Volleyball Open National Championships were held in Reno in 1975 and 1992. Reno also hosted the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships in 2000. It was also the host city for the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships in 2010.
