COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 5, 2012) - For the second consecutive time the U.S. Paralympic Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team will play for the gold medal at the Paralympic Games. With a sweep over Ukraine, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 in the semifinal match on Wednesday evening at the ExCeL London the Americans earned a spot in Friday’s final match.

The U.S. (3-1) will face China (4-0) in a 2008 Paralympic rematch for the gold on Friday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m. local time (1 p.m. PT). The match will be live streamed at Paralympics.org on channel 5.

“The ladies did an excellent job again tonight,” U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team Head Coach Bill Hamiter said. “They maintained good focus. We had a good game plan and they followed it and executed that plan to a Tee. Now we are headed into the gold medal match and will have a lot of confidence no matter who we play and we are ready to try and win that gold medal.”

Hamiter started all three sets with Katie Holloway (Lake Stevens, Wash.), Brenda Maymon (Charlestown, Ind.), Heather Erickson (Fayetteville, N.C.), Monique Burkland (Ardmore, Okla.), Allison Aldrich (Schuyler, Neb.), Nichole Millage (Champaign, Ill.) and libero Kari Miller (Washington, D.C.).

Erickson led the U.S. with 17 points off of 13 kills, two blocks and two service aces. Holloway followed close behind adding 11 points on the American side of the scoreboard from nine kills and two service aces. Aldrich tallied five kills, two service aces and two blocks for nine points while Burkland posted seven from five kills and two blocks. Maymon connected on three kills for three points and Millage on two kills for two points.

Lora Webster (Phoenix, Ariz.) came in the second set and posted four points off of a pair of kills and a pair of blocks. Michelle Gerlosky (Lake Wales, Fla.) subbed in the second and third sets and connected on three kills for three points.

Miller posted an 85 positive reception percent and a 69 excellent reception percent.
