WNT A2 Roster and Schedule

DALLAS (June 30, 2013) - All four squads competing in the 2013 U.S. Women’s National Volleyball A2 Program (WNTA2) head into the final day of pool play tomorrow with 1-1 records after Team Blue defeated Team Red in five sets and Team White defeated Team Gold in four sets on Sunday in Dallas.

The WNTA2 competition is being held at the Dallas Convention Center in conjunction with the 2013 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

Head Coach Ruth Nelson and Assistant Mike Gawlik led Team Blue to a 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11 victory over Team Red, led by Head Coach Bill Neville and Assistant Coach Ashley Allen.

Team Blue was paced by Annie Drews (Elkhart, Ind.), who tallied 18 points on 13 kills, four aces and one block. Ashley Wittman (Shakopee, Minn.) chalked up 14 points with her 14 kills, while Ariana Williams (Riverside, Calif.) added 11 points on nine kills and two blocks. Victoria Hurtt (Kansas City, Mo.) contributed nine points on seven kills and two blocks. Kimberly Dahl (Pleasant Grove, Utah) added five points on five kills. Adreene Elliott (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Mackenzie Dagostino (Tampa, Fla.) both added four points, tallying two kills, one block and one ace a piece. Hannah Tedrow (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) added three points with her ace, block and kill. Chantale Riddle (Roswell, N.M.) added three points on two kills and one block. Simone Antwi (Fairfax Station, Va.) added two points on one kill and one block.

Kristen Hahn (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) chalked up 11 perfect passes in 20 attempts (.550 efficiency), while Ellen Mullins (Nashville, Tenn.) added 10 perfect passes in 16 attempts (.620 efficiency).

Tai Manu-Olevao (Honolulu, Hawaii) led Team Red with 21 points on her match-high 19 kills and two blocks. Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) added 14 points on 14 kills, while Casey Hinger (Fullerton, Calif.) contributed 11 points on seven kills, three blocks and one ace. Valerie Nichol (Normal, Ill.) chalked up ten points on eight kills, one ace and one block. Kierra Jones (Fishers, Ind.) added seven points on four kills, two aces and one block. Courtney Windham (Houston, Texas) also tallied seven points, scoring on six kills and one block. Kathleen Luft (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) scored four points on three kills and one ace, while Mita Uiato (Laguna Beach, Calif.) added three points on two kills and one block. Hannah Jonson (Longview, Wash.) tallied two points with her kill and block, and Moneshia Simmons (Buford, Ga.) added two points on two kills.

On defense for Team Red, Kori Moster (Cincinnati, Ohio) chalked up 16 perfect passes in 34 attempts (.47 efficiency), while Caitlin Welch (Louisville, Ky.) added three perfect passes in six attempts (.500 efficiency). Team Red held the advantage in kills (66-57) and points scored (81-73). Team Blue held the 9-8 advantage in blocks. Both teams clipped seven aces during the match.

Team White, led by Head Coach Mike Hebert and Assistant Coach Marci Sanders, defeated Team Gold 29-27, 20-25, 29-27, 25-18 to improve their record to 1-1 in Dallas. Team Gold, led by Head Andy Banachowski and Assistant Coach Linda Hampton, is also 1-1 in pool.

Lauren Wicinski (Geneva, Ill.) led Team White with 15 points on 13 kills, one block and one ace. Kaitlyn Leary (Parma, Ohio) added 13 points on thirteen kills, while DeLaina Sarden (Lawrenceville, Ga.) tallied eight points on six kills and two blocks. Brooke Mattingly (St. Henry, Ohio) also contributed eight points with her seven kills and one block. Courtney Thomas (DeKalb, Ill.) added six points on five kills and one ace, while Whitney Billings (Helena, Ala.) chalked up five kills on five swings. Ellen Chapman (Glenview, Ill.) tallied five points on three kills, one block and one ace. Ashley Battle (Apex, N.C.) contributed four points on three kills and one ace. Hannah Kvitle (Quincy, Ill.) and Kathryn LeCheminant (Layton, Utah) both added three points, Kvitle scoring on one kill and two aces while LeCheminant scored on two kills and one block.

Carly Cramer (Martinsville, Ind.) passed 16 perfect passes out of 24 attempts (.670 efficiency). Team Gold was led by Nicole Walch (Stuart, Fla.), who tallied 17 points on 14 kills, two aces and one block. Alexis Mathews (Detroit, Mich.) added 13 points on six kills, a match-high six blocks and one ace. Taylor Simpson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added 11 points on nine kills and two blocks, while Litara Keil (Long Beach, Calif.) added nine points on eight kills and one block. Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) tallied seven points on six kills and one block. Zoe Nightingale (Sacramento, Calif.) contributed five points on three blocks and two kills. Deedra Foss (McKenna, Wash.) chalked up three points on one block, one ace and one kill. Mackenzie Bigbee (Williamsburg, Iowa) added two points on two kills, while Elizabeth Koberstein (Madison, Wis.) added two points on one kill and one block.

Annemarie Hickey (Oswego, Ill.) passed 18 perfect passes in 24 attempts (.750 efficiency), while Veronica Lewis (San Jose, Calif.) passed five perfect passes in 12 attempts (.420 efficiency).

Team White tallied two more aces than Team Gold during the match (6-4) and eight more kills (58-50). Team Gold tallied an impressive 17 blocks in the losing effort compared to Team White’s six blocks.

Team Red will close pool against Team Gold at 4:30 p.m., and Team White will face Team Blue at 7 p.m.

Final pool-play results will determine seeding for Tuesday’s semifinal matches.
