CRETEIL, France-American David Arendt won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. to head the list of U.S. finishers at the Cristo Lutte Seniors on Jan. 26-27. Arendt (Quantico, Va./U.S. Marines) advanced to the final round before falling to two-time World champion Mijain Lopez of Cuba in the finals. The U.S. team tied for seventh in the event with 21 points. Cuba edged France 53-51 for the team title. Arendt was the lone U.S. wrestler to win a medal. Placing fifth for the American squad was Jacob Hey at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Robbie Smith at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Mark Simmonds at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
