The Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) National Championships will be held on the campus of Menlo College on Saturday, January 29.

Oklahoma City University is the two-time defending champion at the event. The University of the Cumberlands won the first official WCWA Nationals in 2008, and placed second the next two years.

Oklahoma City remains the pre-event favorite, holding the No. 1 team ranking all season. OCU also won its third straight National Duals title this year, defeating WCWA rival Simon Fraser of Canada in the finals.

Returning champions from last year expected to participate include:
- Victoria Anthony of Simon Fraser at 48 kg/105.5 lbs.
- Michaela Hutchinson of Oklahoma City at 55 kg/121 lbs.
- Helen Maroulis of Simon Fraser at 59 kg/130 lbs.
- Danielle Lappage of Simon Fraser at 63 kg/138.75 lbs.
- Amberlee Montgomery of Oklahoma City at 67 kg/147.5 lbs.
- Hillary Greening of Simon Fraser at 82 kg/180.25 lbs.
- Brittany Delgado of Oklahoma City at 95 kg/209 lbs.

Some of these athletes may compete at different weight classes. Hutchison will attempt to win her third career WCWA Nationals title. Maroulis won her WCWA title last year for Missouri Baptist, and transferred to Simon Fraser this season.

Last summer, Anthony and Lappage were gold medalists and Maroulis was a bronze medalist at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Also expected to compete is two-time World champion and nine-time World medalist Kristie Davis of Oklahoma City, who will be wrestling in her first WCWA Nationals. Davis could enter at a number of the weight classes in the higher division.

The size of the field will be larger than previous years, as a number of new programs have started women's varsity programs and will be competing in their first WCWA National event.
